Health warning issued over thyme packets

Consumers have been warned against consuming thyme packaged by Smart supermarket since it may potentially be contaminated with Salmonella.
People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range from six to 72 hours, the Food Safety and Security Authority said. The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache, and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts between four and seven days.
The product packets weigh approx.50g and carry a best before date of 30/03/2027.
