The Malta Environment and Planning Authority decided 1,141 applications in May and June.

Mepa said that in May, when it decided 644 applications, it received 741 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of that month was 4,071.

In June, Mepa determined 497 applications and received 567. At the end of the month, the pending caseload was 4,080.

During May, Mepa processed 102 notifications of development. In June, it processed 76 such notifications.

Mepa said that in May, 78 stop and enforcement notices were issued, 61 in Malta and 17 in Gozo; in June 87, with 65 in Malta and 22 in Gozo.

During May, 98 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit - 71 in June.

Another 37 cases were resolved in May since owners decided to remove illegal development following enforcement action. The number in June was 60.

In May, 22 cases were withdrawn by Mepa - 77 in June.

Twelve cases were closed following payment for direct actions carried out in the past years. The number of these cases in June was six.
