An army helicopter was called to Ġnejna to assist a woman who fell while walking on Sunday near Għajn Tuffieħa.

The woman, a 21-year-old from the UK on holiday in Malta, is understood to have suffered leg fractures. The incident happened at around 6pm.

Members of the Civil Protection Department went on site but the help of the AFM had to be requested as they could not bring the woman up to safety.

The AFM helicopter was called in to tranfser the woman to the airport from where an ambulance took her to Mater Dei Hospital.
