An enthusiastic crowd of thousand of Maltese fans gave Glen Vella a hero’s welcome this afternoon as he arrived back in Malta from Dusseldorf in Germany, where he was taking part in the Eurovision song contest.

A jovial Glen came out into the arrival's lounge jumping and waving a Maltese flag as the crowd clapped, sang his song and took photos.

With his song One Life, composed by Paul Giordimaina and written by Fleur Balzan, Glen took part in Tuesday’s semi-final failing to make it into yesterday’s final for just one point.

But although he missed celebrating his birthday on stage, fans more than made up for it at the airport as they touched him and took his autographs. Even his dog Bobby was waiting.

A visibly emotional Glen thanked the crowd and also entertained them with some singing.
