A Libyan man was yesterday charged with importing about 430 grammes of heroin from Tripoli into Malta on Sunday and conspiring to deal in the drug.

Ahmed Abdul Salem Troum, 29, was also charged with trafficking in heroin and with the possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use on and before Sunday.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Nezren Grixti prosecuted and Dr Anthony Cutajar was legal counsel.
