The 2002/2003 women's football championship is still in its early days but the two main protagonists of these past few years, Hibernians and Birkirkara, are dominating the scene again as the two rivals have already chalked up nine points from their opening three outings.
They have an impeccable record with none of the two joint leaders suffering a goal so far either.
However, one of them, or even both, will lose the perfect 100 per cent record on Sunday when champions Hibernians clash against great antagonists Birkirkara at the Pace Grasso ground.
Last weekend, Hibernians had to be at their best to thwart the challenge of mid-table side Melita.
After a scoreless first half, Hibernians stepped up a gear on the changeover.
Their efforts were rewarded with two goals.
In the 59th minute Sarah Caruana, put through by Dorianne Theuma, rounded the Melita goalkeeper before sliding the ball home and six minutes from time Theuma headed home a loose ball for a 2-0 win.
Birkirkara's victory over Raiders was more pronounced.
After two minutes the Stripes were already ahead when Chantal Fenech scored from a penalty.
They added three more goals after the break, two of them coming from former Raiders striker Eleonora Agliano. Deborah Pisani was Birkirkara's other scorer in a 4-0 win.
