Hibernians made sure of their sixth successive title in the Malta FA women's national league after trouncing Raiders 8-0 at the Pace Grasso ground last weekend to make sure they finish first in the standings for yet another season.

Sunday's 14th win from as many outings also meant that the Paolites have now established a new record of consecutive victories in the championship.

As the scoreline clearly indicates, Hibernians were the superior team on the field of play against Raiders, who, at first, offered stiff resistance with goalkeeper Farrugia effecting a series of fine saves.

However, Raiders' durability only lasted until the 28th minute when the champions forged ahead and never looked back. Tessie Agius received a perfect pass from Francesco Debono before blasting into the roof of Farrugia's net for the opening goal.

There were three other Hibs strikes before the break, the goals all coming from top-scorer Dorianne Theuma.

Sarah Caruana made it 5-0 in the 51st minute. Her goal was Hibs' 400th since they joined the national league. Tereza Zammit scored the second hat-trick of the day in Hibs' resounding win against modest opposition.

The other match in programme on Sunday saw mid-table side Mosta scoring five goals without reply against lowly Rabat Ajax. It was Mosta's fifth win of the season but Rabat are still anchored to the bottom without a point.

Mosta were already leading 3-0 at half-time after goals from Jane Coates, Roxanne Gatt and newcomer Nadia Gosney. They also had new goalkeeper Vanessa Deguara playing her first match for the team.

In the second half, Mosta opted to control play in midfield but they still found time to score two other goals through Coates and Anne Marie Vella.
