Hibernians opened a ten-point lead at the top of the BOV Premier League standings after they brushed aside Mosta 5-0 at the Tedesco Stadium.

Luis Edison was the absolute protagonist for the Paolites after he bagged four goals to push his team 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League standings.

It was Mosta who could have taken the lead after four minutes when Bojan Kaljevic made headway inside the area before picking up Bueno whose thumping drive surprised goalkeeper Henry Bonello but the ball came off the bar.

But Hibs soon clicked into gear and they forged ahead on the half hour when they were awarded a free-kick and Clayton Failla’s cross picked Edison who directed a header past a stranded Borg.

Mosta were rattled and three minutes later they fell further behind when Bjorn Kristensen picked the steaming Edison who raced clear off his marker before hitting a low drive that gave no chance to Borg.

Sixty seconds from the restart, Tarabai almost completed his hat-trick when he latched onto a Kristensen pass before hitting a rasping drive that flashed across goal before finishing just wide.

But that was a temporary reprieve as Hibs struck their third on 49 minutes.
Failla picked Jackson Lima inside the area and the Brazilian midfielder quickly sent a low cross towards Jorginho who failed to connect, with the ball coming off Adrian Borg before finishing into the back of the net.

Tarabai completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes when he bamboozled his marker with his quick movement before drilling the ball past Borg.

The Brazilian marksman was not finished yet and he got his fourth of the afternoon on 76 minutes when he dived full stretch to head home Joseph Mbong’s delivery.
