The volume of retail trade in January this year increased by 2.7 per cent in the eurozone and by three per cent in the EU15 when compared to the same month last year, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg said.

Compared to December 2002, sales rose by 2.5 per cent in the euro zone and by 1.8 per cent in the EU15.
