Hold-up at lotto office

An armed man walked into a lotto office in Birkirkara in broad daylight yesterday and ordered the lotto receiver to hand over all the money, before fleeing from the scene, the police said.

The lotto receiver escaped unhurt but was treated for shock.

The hold-up took place at about 11.30 a.m. in Fleur des Lys Street. The police have not yet established the sum stolen and are looking for the robber.

Duty Magistrate Giovanni Grixti ordered an inquiry and appointed a number of experts to draw up a report.
