Very often people write to complain about some trivial shortcoming; very few seem to write to show appreciation. Permit me to be one of these latter few. We would like to thank all those who assisted us during our holiday. Without their assistence, a long-planned holiday would have turned into a disaster.
The episode was as follows:
On August 2, my wife and I were due to fly with Condor Airlines to Munich when after check-in, and during passport control, it was discovered that my wife's passport had expired for quite some time and we lost our flight.
Seeing our predicament and particularly my distress, out of nowhere came one of Air Malta's staff, namely Ms Anne-Marie Matrenza, a person we had never known before, and she took our case in her hands, going out of her way to make alternative arrangements, notwithstanding the fact that we were not flying with Air Malta.
Within half an hour in the most gentle manner and in a sense of humour that succeeded in calming me, she made arrangements with the passport office and with the agents of Lufthansa so that we could take the next flight the next day.
Thanks to her, everything was settled and we have just returned from a fantastic holiday, which we partially owe to Ms Matrenza. I also wish to thank staff at the MIA's passport control and the staff of the passport office for their efficient assistance and understanding.
This is the least I can do to thank Ms Matrenza, since she even refused a small gift my wife and I wanted to give her.
