A Husky is at the Abandoned Animals Association's sanctuary in Luqa waiting to be adopted after it was found roaming at Manikata by a woman recently.

Freddie Fenech of the AAA said the 12-month-old dog was either lost or abandoned by its owner. It is domesticated, very docile and in good condition.

Mr Fenech said this breed is not common on the island. The price of a puppy often exceeds Lm200.

Why would someone abandon such a beautiful dog? One reason, he said, was the considerable cost to maintain it in a good condition.

Another reason, he added, could be the size of the dog which could turn out to be an inconvenience in the home, something prospective owners should take into consideration when buying a pet.

Mr Fenech can be contacted on 7929 7930 and on 9946 4888.
