Homes of Quality supports YMCA Malta’s ‘Adopt a DAR’ initiative
YMCA seeks donations to help finance its mission to protect the homeless
Homes of Quality has joined YMCA’s campaign ‘Adopt a DAR’, launched in the lead-up to the organisation’s 50th anniversary in 2026.
Through this project, YMCA is inviting compassionate individuals and organisations to adopt the essence of its mission – to provide holistic care for people experiencing homelessness in Malta.
Homes of Quality’s donation to symbolically adopt a home strengthens the chain of support for those who need it most.
Alex Papagiorcopulo, the branch manager of Homes of Quality in Sliema, said: “As part of the Frank Salt Real Estate Group, we are lucky enough to deal with people who can afford to buy homes, luxury ones at times, and some even buy multiple properties. In doing so on a daily basis, we sometimes get blinded to the stark reality that some people do not have the means to shelter, a roof over their heads or a place to call home. We, therefore, gladly give support to such initiatives and encourage those who can to do the same.”
Some people do not have a place to call home
Every ‘adoption’ has an immediate impact. It helps secure safe shelter and a warm bed for someone in crisis, ensures access to nutritious meals and provides clothing and personal hygiene supplies. It funds one-on-one psychosocial and mental health support sessions, as well as participation in workshops that prepare individuals for employment and independence. Importantly, it also contributes to follow-up care, advocacy and reintegration planning so that this is not a temporary handout but a step towards long-term transformation.

One can donate as an individual, a family or a business. All adoption donations will also be acknowledged during the upcoming YMCA fundraising marathon, which will be broadcast live across all national TV stations on September 20.
