Arthur Breasley, one of Australia's most successful jockeys, has died aged 92, Racing Victoria announced yesterday.
"Scobie" rode more than 3,000 winners during his career, two-thirds of them in Britain. He began riding aged 12, won his first race at 14 and went on to win most of Australia's top races except the Melbourne Cup.
He also rode over 100 winners in England each year from 1955 to 1964 in a stellar international career that included a Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe win in France and English Derby victories in 1964 and 1966.
