\nHaving played a fortnight ago in the men's Super Cup final, which resulted in a La Salle win, everybody was expecting a reaction from Kavallieri in the first round of the MHA Cup.
One could notice a better organised and aggressive Kavallieri team who had Robert Sultana back. As the final result shows, the La Sallians had a tough job to win the three points.
The game was tight all the way though La Salle were almost in control for most of the time. After 10 minutes from the start of the second half, Kavallieri drew level 20-all.
They could have done even better had they stayed more focused but in the late stages conceded a lot from La Salle's fast breaks.
Player of the match: Chris Kennely.
Salesians 20
Aloysians 17
Salesians played a good match with Renzo Kerr Cumbo, Robert Portelli and Christian Briffa, along with the returning Joseph Tanti, leaving a positive impact.
There was better cohesion in the Salesians team who looked in better shape. Aloysians have the merit of not giving up till the last second though. They tried to beat the opposing defence with shots from left-back Ragonesi and player-coach Milos Stanisavljevic.
The result was still unsure till the last two minutes when Aloysians adopted man-on-man tactics. But, Salesians then profited from the gaps left open in their opponents' defence to make sure of victory.

Aloysians 14
Kavallieri 20
This was an entertaining match from the women's MHA Cup where the score was never more than a mere two-goal advantage for the winning side.
While Kavallieri based their game on enthusiasm and fighting spirit, Aloysians were more tactful, and they only gave up in the last few minutes of the game.
Fielding a young promising side, Aloysians tried to get the three points and they could have succeeded if it was not for their mistakes in attack.
Player of the match: Audrey Grech.
