The House of Representatives yesterday paid tribute to Professor Edwin Busuttil who served as Speaker of the then Malta Legislative Assembly in 1952. He was also a member of the House.

Leader of the House Tonio Borg said Professor Busuttil would best be remembered by many MPs as a lecturer and professor at the faculty of laws of the University of Malta. Dr Borg paid tribute to Prof Busuttil by quoting him as saying "human rights stop at the frontier of human duty".

Opposition spokesman Anġlu Farrugia also noted Professor Busuttil's contribution to constitutional law.

Deputy Speaker Carmelo Abela joined both Dr Borg and Dr Farrugia in the expression of the condolences.
