A housewife from Victoria, Anna Scicluna, has won the last series of the The Times word game. She has won a trip to central Italy from September 10 to 17, courtesy of Mondial Holidays.
"I'm very excited to have won. I've been doing the game for so long and I never expected this. It has come as a very pleasant surprise," she said, when told that her name had been drawn.
"I have only been to Rome before. It was an extra special surprise as I found out that I had won the prize the day after my birthday," she said.
Mrs Scicluna is married and has three children, aged 15, 12 and eight.
The six nine-letter words in the series were tableware, ingenious, entrechat, infective, animality and rancorous.
"Entrechat" gave her particular problems: she only got the word after searching through the dictionary and only submitted her entry at the very last moment, having almost given up hope.
Mrs Scicluna received her prize from Mondial sales manager Lucienne Degiorgio. She plans to take her husband Joe with her on the tour.
The prize includes return flights on Air Malta, seven nights accommodation in a three star hotel on bed and breakfast basis (twin room sharing), all airport transfers and the services of a Mondial tour leader.
The winner also received a free year's subscription to the Scrabble Club and a Lm50 voucher from the Tax Free Marketing Group to be spent at Malta International Airport's tax free shops.
The winner of the word game series now underway will receive a free place, offered by Albertours, on its Costa Amalfitana tour leaving Malta on October 15, returning on October 22.
The prize includes return flights on Air Malta, seven nights accommodation in a three star hotel on bed and breakfast basis (a twin room sharing), all airport transfers and the services of an experienced tour leader.
All taxes, service charges, optional excursions, drinks, entrance fees and gratuities are excluded.
The winner will also get a free year's subscription in the Scrabble Club and a Lm50 voucher from the Tax Free Marketing Group to be spent at Malta International Airport's tax free shops.
