The Labour Party has called on the government to declare its intentions on the scheme whereby tenants of government housing can buy their residence at a subsidized price.

Party spokesman Roderick Galdes said the Housing Authority recently refused to receive applications from tenants wishing to buy their house.

He said the opportunity to buy one’s own residence existed across the EU, and he asked what the government’s plans were. Did it intend reviewing the scheme and the prices offered?

The current situation, he said, had caused uncertainty among tenants.
