The Secretariat for the Elderly has published a booklet to guide the various health professionals on ways to notice and prevent abuse on elderly persons.

The publication was prepared together with the National Working Group On Elderly Abuse (NWGOE).

The publication defines abuse of the elderly and provides a profile of probable victims while giving information on how to tackle and prevent abuse.

While stating clearly that abuse of an older person is not excusable, society in general is reminded that everyone has an obligation to report any suspicion of abuse to the police or social service agencies.
