Shaun Wallis has been officially appointed chief executive officer at HSBC Bank Malta plc. Mr Wallis, who has been a director of HSBC Bank Malta for the past five years, previously occupied the post of general manager international with HSBC Bank plc, based in HSBC's London headquarters in Canary Wharf.
A Master's graduate in History from the University of Edinburgh, Mr Wallis is a long-term career banker within the HSBC Group, having joined the bank in 1978.
During his career he has occupied a number of posts within the HSBC Group in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East in a number of different countries in a variety of roles in retail banking, corporate banking and in treasury as well as central head office functions, including latterly general manager international with responsibility over some 17 countries.
"Over the past five years I have had a close association with the HSBC operation in Malta and I have seen the progress made by the bank," Mr Wallis said.
"I believe that HSBC employees in Malta can be proud of their achievements and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues to serve our customers and the local community."
