HSBC sponsors bicentenary celebrations

HSBC is the main sponsor of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of the consecration of the parish church of St Peter and St Paul in Nadur.

HSBC Gozo Area Manager Richard Mercieca presented the sponsorship to Nadur archpriest Fr Salv Muscat. "This bicentenary is a very important event both for the people of Nadur and for Gozo. HSBC believes in actively supporting such cultural activities that will help the whole community to celebrate this milestone," Mr Mercieca said.

The bicentenary celebrations include musico-literary events at the church. The play, Ir-Rebha ta' l-Appostli Pietru u Pawlu, written by Bishop Nikol Cauchi, with music by Mgr Martin Portelli, will also be staged.

"Thanks to HSBC's support, we will be able to provide the Nadur community with a full programme of activities to celebrate this important anniversary," Fr Muscat said. "We will be able to record the performance of Ir-Rebha ta' l-Appostli Pietru u Pawlu on CD, for the enjoyment of everyone connected with Nadur, wherever they may be," he added.
