HSBC Bank Malta plc has renewed its annual sponsorship of the Print Journalism Award which will be presented at the 15th edition of Malta Journalism Awards. Organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM), the Awards will be held on Monday, November 14.
The three finalists in the Print Journalism (News) category are Herman Grech (The Times), Victor Vella (l-Orizzont) and Charlot Zahra (The Malta Independent).
The Print Journalism Award rewards the work of those who contribute written news material to various local newspapers and magazines The winner of the award will receive a trophy and a cash prize.
For this year's edition of Malta Journalism Awards, there are three new categories bringing the total number of categories to 12.
"The Print Journalism Award has always been one of the most keenly contested of all journalism awards. Malta, despite, its small population, produces an impressive number of newspapers and magazines all of which contribute in their own way towards creating a better informed public. The standard of the submissions for this award has also always been outstanding and I am certain that this year will be no exception," said IMG chairman Malcolm J. Naudi.
"HSBC believes in the importance of an ethical media as a necessary cornerstone of society and will continue to support initiatives, such as the Malta Journalism Awards, as they encourage journalists to strive continuously for excellence," said HSBC's head of marketing and communications Godfrey Swain.
This Print Journalism Category in this year's Malta Journalism Awards, as well as the other categories, are open to all journalists.
