Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone is to undergo an ankle operation set to sidelined for three months, the English club announced yesterday.

It means the 23-year-old England international will miss ­several key Champions League fixture and the congested Christmas programme.

“Following consultation with several independent ankle specialists, it has been determined Tom Huddlestone will undergo surgery on his right ankle,' a statement on the north London's club website, www.tottenhamhotspur.com said.

The procedure is likely to rule the England international out of action for around three months.”
