A Human Rights Walk will be held tomorrow on the occasion of Human Rights Day which is marked today.

The walk starts from six different localities and ends at Valletta where a variety show will be held.

The walk is organised by the National Commission Persons with Disability and the Jesuit Refugee Service.

There will be participants representing different sectors of the population who very often experience discrimination. These are disabled persons, persons from ethnic minorities, persons from different religions, children, young and elderly persons, women and persons who are gay or transgender.

The walk for disabled persons will start from Siggiewi main square; for ethnic minorities from Safi detention centre; for different religions from St Anthony church, Paola; for different age groups from St Sylvester church, Mosta; for women from the Yacht Marina, Ta' Xbiex and for those who are gay or transgender from near the Birkirkara local council.

Departure will be at 9 a.m. for Floriana - near the Le Meridien Phoenicia - where participants will meet and march at 10.30 a.m. to Freedom Square, Valletta.

Fabrizio Faniello, Walter Micallef, the Eden Foundation band and a Congolese band will be in attendance.

A "declaration" will be presented to Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi at 12.30 p.m.
