Hunting, trapping will be safeguarded under PN, Alex Borg assures Gozo crowd
Whether you are Nationalist or Labourite, you can work with us, PN leader says
Hunting and trapping will be safeguarded under a PN government, Alex Borg said on Tuesday.
Addressing a mass meeting in Gozo, the PN leader hit out at Labour’s “scaremongering” about the party’s past track record on the topic.
“Others are stuck in the past, I am stuck in the future. I will look ahead, you know where you stand with me. My word is my contract,” Borg said.
Borg also sought to allay fears that a PN government would be “vindictive” towards those who did not support it.
“If you are Nationalist you can work with us. If you are a Labourite you can work with. If you do not vote, you can work with us. If you have lost faith in politics, you can work with us,” Borg said.

Borg also apologised to PN voters who felt wronged by the party, and urged those who have lost faith in politics to give the party their vote.
“This is the moment to again vote for change. We are a renewed party, an energetic one looking towards the future,” Borg said.
Borg, a Gozitan, said Gozo will be at the centre of the PN’s plans in government.
He vowed to enshrine Gozo’s status as a region in the constitution, and under his leadership, the island will no longer be on the periphery, but take centre stage.
Borg vowed to give Gozitan youths the chance to flourish without having to move to Malta.
He said a PN government will also give businesses in Gozo more opportunities, with the island acting as a “strong motor.”
The PN leader said his brand of politics does not label people as a potential vote.
He said the election is an opportunity for the country to unite and move forward, with a PN government that represents all of Malta and Gozo.
"May 30 is not a choice between two parties, red or blue. It is about the country’s future, the future of youngsters, workers, businesses, families, the elderly.
"It is a choice between more of the same or a breath of fresh air. I am ready to work, to serve. Alex cannot do it on his own, but we can do it together," Borg said to applause.
