Would someone please put a restraining order on the art critic E.V. Borg's word processor? Or whatever it is that induces him to produce such hyperbolic commentaries that prompt me to wonder what he is smoking? I mean, just how many superlatives and inflated adjectives can one possibly stuff into one sentence? Let's see.
"Exuberantly ecstatically overwhelmingly breathlessly mesmerised into a state of spellbound levitation upon viewing a painting that is stunningly resplendently vigorously hypnotically expressive..." (The Sunday Times, June 5). My, my, this could possibly be a manifestation of a type of hallucinogenic Ecstasy that is completely legal!
To Mr Borg I say... whatever it is that you use, please bottle it and sell it - you'll make a fortune! The art world is full of hype and such inflated hype works as an attention-getter and subsequently attracts buyers but it doesn't do an artist any good in terms of self-development and I'm sure self-respecting artists know that.
