Aġenzija Appoġġ is seeking volunteers to join its team for both the supportline 179 and Programm Ulied Darna services.
Appoġġ provides opportunities for volunteers to offer several services for children, adults and families. In 2007, around 11,000 hours of voluntary work were dedicated to the agency's supportline, a 24-hour service dealing with various problems. Such problems include domestic violence, child abuse, loneliness, and homelessness.
Approximately another 6,000 hours of voluntary work were also dedicated to Programm Ulied Darna, a service offering practical support to families whose children are at great social risk and who require support to prevent crises and other family problems.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer may obtain an application from the website www.appogg.gov.mt or from Appoġġ at 36, St Luke's Road, Guardamangia. The closing date is Saturday.
An information meeting will be held at Appoġġ on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m. Another meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Those interested may call 2295 9000 or support line 179 to confirm their attendance.
