Commonwealth Resounds! is a spectacular multicultural musical event featuring Maltese musicians, singers and composers from all over the Commonwealth. This event is being held as part of the activities to mark the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta.
Musicians from various Commonwealth countries, including traditional Gozitan folk musicians, the Cantores Sancti Juliani Choir directed by Lino Attard, and harpist Cecila Sultana de Maria; Koo Nimo leading exponent of Ghanaian folk music; the Cyprus State Orchestra; the Purcell School Trio (UK); Ashe Performing Arts Ensemble (Jamaica); a collaboration between musicians from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh; and the Ngati Ranana Maori group from New Zealand are taking part in this musical event.
Groups involved in the production will also give individual performances all over Malta in events organised by the Commonwealth People's Forum during the coming week.
A beautiful souvenir programme to celebrate Malta as a cultural host to over 150 international performers in Commonwealth Resounds! will feature images by the celebrated photographer Malcolm Crowthers. Classic FM will run trailers and broadcast highlights to 5.9 million listeners as the main media partner.
The event is being organised with the collaboration of Victoria Council. Admission to the concert, which starts at 7.30 p.m., is free.
