'I will love you forever': murder victim's wife pays tribute
Mirjam Busuttil Hoogvliet says husband Jean Paul was 'love of my life'
The wife of Bidjnija road rage murder victim Jean Paul Busuttil has paid tribute to her husband, expressing her love and incredulity over his death.
Jean Paul Busuttil, 53, was shot dead after he was involved in a minor traffic accident with a motorcyclist at about 6.30am on Sunday.
Mohamed Hamdan, a man with a history of violence, pleaded not guilty to the murder on Monday evening.
The victim's wife, Mirjam Busuttil Hoogvliet, shared her devastation in a short Facebook post on Tuesday.
Jean Paul and Mirjam Busuttil."My best friend, my love of my life!! The father of our precious daughter!! How did such an idote (idiot) criminal take all of it away in just seconds 💔💔💔 I will love you forever", she wrote under a picture of the couple together.
A police inspector told a court that Hamdan, 46, got involved in a fight with his neighbour after driving the wrong way down a one-way road. He left the scene and returned with a weapon with which he shot the victim.
Busuttil, a businessman, drove all the way to Burmarrad before collapsing. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance and quickly succumbed to his injuries.
Times of Malta reported on Tuesday that Hamdan, a Libyan national born in Syria but living in Malta since the age of 15, had a history of violent offences, including being arraigned for attempted murder.
He was also previously found guilty of assaulting a police officer and smashing down the door of a neighbour's home.
