Web development specialist Icon has been entrusted with the delivery of a new portal for the Association of Parents of Children in Church Schools. The company also part-sponsored the project, aimed at bridging the communication gap and creating stronger relationships between parents and the community.

Gege Gatt, Icon's director for strategy and business development told a room full of teachers, parents and school heads at the site's launch event in March: "The internet is no longer a mere tool, but a way of life for most of the young students in our education system today. We must embrace this new means of dialogue at all levels. Parents, school heads and teachers must embrace this channel and this project is a first step in this direction."

The APCCS strives to uphold a truly Christian education for students attending Church schools, endeavouring to be the voice of parents in education and to ensure the rights of children in Church schools are adequately safeguarded.

"Our main aim for the site is to share Christian values," APCCS president Doreen Camilleri explained.

"Icon took the time to understand our vision and helped to guide and educate us through the process of developing our new website. They also took the time to educate us on the ways we can make internet safer for our children."
