The Ministry for Infrastructure, Transport and Communications hosted a breakfast meeting today to brief employers seeking ICT human resources about its ICT work experience programme.

“The ICT Student Placement Programme is a cost-effective opportunity for employers to source additional resources and ICT-related skills for a defined period of time during the summer recess. ICT students can contibute to organisations with knowledge of new technologies, new ideas and fresh enthusiasm,” the ministry said, adding that the initiative promoted and supported quality work experience for the benefit of ICT students, companies and the economy.

The event attracted around 70 Maltese .

Employers were also informed that registrations are now open to all enterprises interested and would like to offer temporary ICT-related job placements for ICT students during July-September 2008. These can be accessed online through the Smartisland website www.thesmartisland.gov.mt. Registrations will be accepted until Friday May 23, 2008.
