Illegal boathouses "should be demolished"

The agreement between the government and the central committee of the Associations of Boathouse and Caravan Owners does not reflect the wishes of all the social partners who have been left out of the picture so far as the decision making process is concerned, Friends of the Earth (Malta) said yesterday.

"In the interests of social justice all illegal boathouses should be demolished and, as far as possible, the areas landscaped for the enjoyment of the public. The rights of the great majority of Maltese, who do not have illegal boathouses, must be respected here," it said.

FoE Malta strongly disagrees that any more boathouses should be built.
