The Malta Environment and Planning Authority yesterday tipped more than 300 tons of soil onto a site in Wied Garnaw, limits of Gudja, which was operating illegally as a skip depot.

The action was taken following an enforcement notice issued against the landowner after soil was excavated and material dumped at the site.

Two wooden rooms and a fence above the wall that surrounded the site were also removed.

It was the second operation of its kind to have taken place in Wied Garnaw. Administrative Law Enforcement police and Enemalta Corporation assisted Mepa officials in the operation. Further action is planned in the area, the Mepa said.
