It appears that I.M. Beck picked on my "inane" contribution to fill up space in his column (August 20). He distorted the contents of my letter. I never said that the Maltese "run the world or the Mediterranean" (unthinkable); or that we should "shoot the immigrants on the beaches". If I.M. Beck has an opinion, God Bless him, he has every right to express it without calling others names, which is also very unchristian.
I.M. Beck also insinuated that I am one of the "average Maltese" who are fanning and fuelling xenophobia and racism. He should have been more cautious before rushing in and wrongly interpreting what I said.
My belief remains that illegal immigrants should be repatriated in the interests of our country.
