Eighty-four of the 95 illegal immigrants who arrived at Cirkewwa on Thursday evening are from Liberia, the police said yesterday.

The Liberians are 75 men and nine women.

The others were Somalis, including two women.

After being given medical assistance, the illegal immigrants were taken to the various detention centres at Hal Far, Lister Barracks and the police headquarters in Floriana.

The new arrivals bring the number of illegal immigrant landings since January to just under 1,000. 220 were repatriated last month.
