Reference is made to the letter Illegal Parking By Tourist Coaches that appeared on March 30. The ADT is in total agreement with the correspondent and is fully aware of the dangers that illegal parking poses to all road users. The law clearly states that motorists are prohibited from parking in a manner that disrupts the flow of traffic.

This notwithstanding, earlier this year, as the correspondent is aware because he was present, the ADT organised a series of meetings with both the local council and various stakeholders to address the problem and consequently will be, over the coming weeks, implementing an alighting and boarding system. This system will be complemented by the creation of an area designated for "waiting coaches".

The ADT is also currently planning a series of 30-second educational television spots that will inform drivers of their obligations.
