A young immigrant was yesterday charged with dangerous driving which led to one of his passengers suffering serious injuries in an accident.
The 21-year-old from Sierra Leone pleaded not guilty to having caused a traffic accident which seriously injured his friend and slightly injured three other passengers.
The man was allegedly driving a Citroen which crashed into a centre strip and then into a tree on Saturday evening in Council of Europe Road, Luqa. He was also accused of negligent driving and failing to observe traffic regulations.
During submissions on bail, defence lawyer Kris Busietta said his client had been living in Malta for the past two years and worked for a construction contractor.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona granted the accused bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000.
