Twenty-six illegal immigrants, claiming to be Somalis and to have departed from Libya, arrived in Malta yesterday evening.

They were towed towards the Armed Forces of Malta maritime squadron headquarters in Haywharf after being intercepted by an AFM patrol boat 11-12 nautical miles south of Malta at 1.30 p.m.

The immigrants' boat had ran out of fuel.

The immigrants consist of 20 males and six females.
