Christopher Drago and EPS Ltd yesterday demanded that the police release 1,400 television sets it had confiscated from them and held the police commissioner liable in damages.

In a judicial protest filed in the First Hall of the Civil Court, Drago said he managed EPS Ltd and that the company's business included the importation of television sets.

The business had been going on for the past 12 years and the company had imported Phoenix televisions sets.

As a rule, the company imported the sets from the foreign company International Trade which had a contract with another company, Formenti, that produced Phoenix television sets. International Trade was authorised to produce Phoenix television sets around the world.

Drago and the company claimed the police had recently confiscated over 1,400 Phoenix televisions from them.

They claimed that there was no valid reason for this seizure, for Drago and the company had produced exhaustive evidence showing the television sets were of legal origin.

However, the actions of the police had caused Drago and the company to suffer considerable damages.

They called upon the police commissioner to take immediate action to release the television sets and held him liable in damages.
