Terry: England and Chelsea captain John Terry has admitted a charge of improper conduct for criticising referee Graham Poll after he was sent off during last November's Premier League defeat at Tottenham. The defender originally asked for a personal hearing but has withdrawn his request and admitted the charge. After the game Terry said Poll had given him conflicting reasons for his second yellow card, a claim denied by the referee.
Lennon: England winger Aaron Lennon has signed a new five-and-a-half year contract with his club Tottenham Hotspur. Lennon, 19, has made 48 appearances for Tottenham.
Stokes: Sunderland have signed Arsenal reserve teenage striker Anthony Stokes in a two million pounds deal. Stokes, 18, who has represented Ireland at age group levels, joined Arsenal as a trainee in 2004.
Quashie: Premier League stru-gglers West Ham have signed Scotland midfielder Nigel Quashie from second division West Brom for £1.5 million. West Ham said that the 28-year-old had penned a three-and-a-half year deal.

German Open to be renamed: This year's German Open, one of Europe's largest Pro-Am events, is to be renamed the Paul Hunter Classic. Many Tour stars head annually to Furth for the August tournament. Hunter was a regular visitor himself until stricken with the cancer that eventually claimed his life last October. The 2007 Paul Hunter Classic will take place from August 23 to August 26 and to coincide with the 1000th anniversary of the town of Furth.
Keifer: German Nicolas Kiefer became the latest player to add his name to the Australian Open absentee list after failing to recover from a wrist injury. Kiefer reached the semi-finals last year but has been sidelined since last June. Women's world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne, Australian Mark Philippoussis and Briton Tim Henman are among the others who will not be travelling to Melbourne Park when the season's first grand slam tournament opens for business next Monday.
