Many in the past few weeks tried to point out what made such a number of nationalist supporters register a protest vote. Many have pointed the finger in the right direction, for example, in the direction of MEPA and the wardens. Is the solution the elimination of MEPA and the wardens? Probably not. However few are those who offer solutions how to act in these circumstances.

They only state that government must act because it is the peoples voice. We propose here a simple solution. In both cases of MEPA and the wardens, in the latter more than in the former, the answer is simple: These groups need an education as do the bus drivers and many persons at the customer care services such as those at the Water Corporation. Send them to school even if that means curtailing the service (and sometimes the disservice) that wardens give.

There was a time when it was very difficult to send groups of persons back to school. The reason was that there was no one to teach them. However today the university has prepared a significant number of able graduates, those who wish to join the teaching profession, most of them with a very strong vocation to teach.

They keep joining the Faculty of Education even if they risk not finding a job when they finish their four year course. The Faculty of Education is always adjusting and improving its curriculum to produce graduate educators whose primary mission is to educate. And this is probably what people like the wardens need.

Dr Mario de Marco described the action of certain wardens as possibly being vexatious. To use his legal terminology a significant number of wardens act frivolously and vexatious in too many a case. But probably if you had to stop a warden and ask him what vexatious means you will be told it is probably some medal given to those wardens who book most people for whatever reason or that they are behaving in such a manner because that is the only way to guarantee their salary!

These wardens need an education and we have the educators, prepared at no small an effort and expense, ready to give an education to those who need it. The same goes for MEPA employees, for illiterates, for drug abusers, and for smokers. The greater need of the country and the solution to most of its ails is better and more education.

This will aid our manufacturing industry, tourism, and other services. As a bonus to the political party in government the investment in education in the varying sectors will help it regain its lost sheep. Such a large number of our citizens need an education and yet we keep our graduate educators unemployed. Let us start a Back to School Campaign!
