If for a minute we gave Alfred Sant's claims that the PN won the election through extreme power of incumbency and dubious practices an ounce of credibility then this would obviously mean that the election should be declared null, the MLP declared the rightful winner and Dr Sant sworn in as the new Prime Minister!
If he believes it's not his fault, why is the Leader of Opposition giving up his post? If his claims are correct, then the people wanted him not Lawrence Gonzi which, therefore, means that the election for a new leader in the MLP is senseless and unfair on Dr Sant himself.
Or is Dr Sant himself not too sure about his "allegations"? Those people who gave him standing ovations through thick and thin should give him the benefit of the doubt, wait for any investigations and leave him where he has been for the past 16 years.
Or is it not just PN supporters and floaters who believe that Dr Sant has overstayed his welcome by far too many months/years?
