The 2003 edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza will form part of the Nationalist Party's Independence Day activities, organising committee chairman Charles Stroud said.

Mr Stroud said that more than 200 songs had been entered for the competition in the past two years.

The contest is run in three phases. In the first phase, 40 songs from all those submitted are chosen; these are then shortlisted to 20 in the second phase, and first, second and third placings are awarded in the third phase.

Last year's edition was won by Lawrence Gray with the song L-Ghazla f'Idejna.
