The ninth meeting of the season comprised no fewer than 10 trotting events on the 2,140m distance. The card included three Assikura Open Championships finals, reserved for horses that were not bred in Sweden or France, plus Premier and Gold races.

Shaun Portelli was the meeting's best driver with two wins.

Indian Attack, driven by Noel Baldacchino, led for virtually the entire distance to win the most prestigious race in yesterday's programme, namely the Assikura Open A Final.

However, Indian Attack had to go all out in the final metres to hold off the challenge of Freedom As and Count Of Life that placed second and third respectively.

Carmelo Farrugia's Gandhi Brogard increased its pace considerably along the last 150 metres of the Assikura Open B final to claim victory. High Speed Night and Lazume Simoni were second and third respectively.

A duel along the final straight of the Assikura Open C final between Spice Boy and Flying Cowboyland resulted in a win for the former, controlled by Portelli, while General finished third. This was Spice Boy's second win on the trot.

The Premier event produced quite a tight finish with four trotters dashing closely together towards the finishing line. Joker De Choisel, directed by veteran and experienced driver Frenċu Cassar, was declared winner ahead of newcomer Liosco Atout and Loulou De Lamee.

Glory Cowboyland, under the charge of Portelli, took the plaudits in the Gold event. It snatched the lead some 400 metres from the post to finish two lengths ahead of second horse in Lindsay Neve. Lascar Beaujolais had to settle for third place.

The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, starting at 1.30 p.m.
