The General Workers Union has suspended industrial action at the Civil Aviation Department and will be having talks with the Management and Personnel Office at the OPM next week, the union said.

The union and the department are in dispute over the revision of the grade of Duty Management Officer.

The union ordered industrial action on October 19 and later stepped up action after the government continued to refuse to negotiate over the grade.

The GWU said that following contacts made yesterday it decided to suspend the action with the aim of reaching an agreement that would be acceptable to both sides.

The union said the directives had started to have an effect on the services provided by Air Malta.
