The General Workers' Union is having informal talks with the social policy and finance ministers in a bid to reach an agreement regarding the collective agreement for Water Services Corporation employees.

The last agreement expired in December 2000.

GWU section secretary Josephine Attard Sultana said the union was awaiting the government's reply to its last proposal.

WSC chairman Michael Falzon said the situation was dragging on and on although there was still some contact between the union and the finance ministry.

Union directives have been in force since May 13.
