An Information Technology Centre was opened at San Blas to provide information technology to residents who are undergoing drug rehabilitation programmes.

Justice Minister Austin Gatt said at the opening that the centre would be providing training on three levels.

The first level provided basic training in the use of computers, internet and e-mails. The second enabled residents to obtain the European Computer Driving Licence, which certified competence in the use of computers.

The third level led to the Cisco Certified Networking Associates certificate, one of the most advanced certificates in the field of networking worldwide.

Dr Gatt said that apart from training, residents who qualified would be given work opportunities through placements in the private sector.
