Initiatives urging public use of private car parks welcomed
Transport Malta is urging private owners to come forward
The Malta Development Association (MDA) has welcomed an initiative by Transport Malta inviting private parking owners to make their spaces available to the public outside normal operating hours.
The association said it believed this is a sensible and timely measure which can help ease ongoing parking pressures in a number of localities.
"Making better use of existing, and often underutilised, private parking spaces particularly during evenings and weekends, offers a practical way of increasing availability without placing further strain on land resources," the association said.
It said a substantial number of privately owned parking facilities remain unused for significant periods. Allowing controlled public access to these spaces can provide immediate and tangible benefits for residents and visitors alike.
