A 60-year-old fisherman was flown to hospital by helicopter after he was injured by a hook on a fishing vessel on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred when the vessel was some 26 nautical miles off Gozo.

He was taken by the AFM helicopter to Gozo hospital where the hook was removed from his hand.
