Fifteen electrical insect killers costing Lm500 and purchased by the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association have been installed in Disneyland Ward at Karen Grech Hospital.

Steven Delicata, for the association said the equipment was bought immediately after he visited Disneyland and saw the children suffering from mosquito bites.

As the rooms in the ward were not equipped with insectocuters the association decided not to wait for the mosquito nets from the Department of Health and to purchase the equipment immediately, he said. This was imperative as the ward was situated close to a reservoir, the home of insects.

Mr Delicata added that although the ward had some insect killers in the corridors, these were not enough to control the pests.
